Iraq Body Count figures for August 4: 17 killed

IBC total to-date for August, 2013: 80 civilians killed

At least nine killed Monday in several attacks, the most violent of which struck a bakery in a Shi’a neighborhood in Baghdad and killed four. In the rare bit of positive news, however, Iraqi security forces in Sulaman Pek, north of Baghdad, engaged with militants while investigating last month’s phony roadblock attack on Shi’a truck drivers, and killed at least 11 of them.
