Monsoons have caused massive flooding and landslides throughout Myanmar, killing at least 46 people and stranding hundreds of thousands or potentially millions, many of whom have been driven out of their homes and many more of whom live in areas so remote that it would be difficult for aid to reach them in perfect conditions. Even many of those who haven’t been displaced are facing shortages of clean water and other supplies. If you have the desire and ability to donate, please do. You may be justifiably concerned that anything you donate will be prevented from reaching Myanmar’s oppressed Rohingya minority, who need it as much as anybody (Rakhine state, their homeland, is one of the areas hardest hit by the flooding); if you’d like to donate directly to Rohingya refugees there are a few ways you might be able to do that.
