Big news out of Iowa, folks, where new polling shows that Bernie Sanders is opening up a huge lead on Hillary Clinton:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has opened a wide lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Democratic contest in Iowa, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Thursday.
The poll showed support for Sanders at 51 percent, while Clinton claimed the support of 43 percent of respondents. This is a dramatic reversal of the result of the previous CNN/ORC poll conducted out in December, which showed Clinton beating Sanders 54 percent to 36 percent.
The Sanders camp needs to keep this in perspective, though, because a new poll shows that Clinton still has a huge lead on Sanders in, ah, Iowa:
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has a nine-point lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) among Iowa Democrats, according to a Monmouth/KBUR poll released Thursday.
The poll showed support for Clinton at 48 percent, compared to 39 percent for Sanders. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley also registered an unusually high level of support at 7 percent.
Though substantial, Clinton’s lead is narrower than in the previous iteration of the Monmouth/KBUR Iowa poll, which showed her leading Sanders 46 percent to 32 percent.
You know what? I’m going to take, like, a really long nap, and hopefully when I wake up this whole Iowa thing will be over. Let me know how it went.
