Today on the blog, as yours truly tried to get back in the swing of things:

We looked at the story of Stephen Decatur and his mission to burn the USS Philadelphia in Tripoli harbor, on this date in 1804

We recapped the latest news with respect to the Syrian civil war

We looked at the situation in Libya, where the United States and its European partners are so hell-bent on intervening militarily (again) that they seem to be ignoring any serious effort at a political settlement to that country’s civil war, which is far more important

Finally, we noted perhaps the single dumbest argument ever advanced by an Israeli lawmaker in favor of dehumanizing the Palestinian people
