Right tosser of the day, innit?

ABOVE: This is Nigel Farage. He’s either laughing here or his brain has triggered a gag reflex in order to try to slip down into his throat and escape his body via his mouth. I’m honestly not sure which.

It’s UKIP Grand Wizard village idiot party leader Nigel Farage:

The Ukip leader, a prominent member of the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, took aim at Obama ahead of the president’s visit to Britain next week, during which he is expected to express support for the remain camp.

“Mercifully, this American president, who is the most anti-British American president there has ever been, won’t be in office for much longer, and I hope will be replaced by somebody rather more sensible when it comes to trading relationships with this country,” Farage said.

It’s undoubtedly true that Farage, who would probably try to deport Obama if they ran into each other on a London street, will be happy to see someone else in the White House. But just for a larf, let’s take a short walk through the list of early US Presidents, shall we?

  • George Washington fought and ultimately won a war against the British, which deprived them of a sizable bit of colonial territory
  • John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were instrumental in rallying the people of the British colonies to join the rebellion that Washington eventually won
  • James Madison led the country into a second war with Britain, with the partial goal of depriving the British crown of its remaining North American colonies
  • Andrew Jackson‘s pre-Presidency career was most famous for having won the final* battle of Madison’s war, the one that allows Americans to pretend that the war was a US victory instead of acknowledging what it really was, a tactical defeat and a strategic big old waste of everybody’s time, resources, and lives

That’s five of the first seven US Presidents who were all involved in some way in actual shooting wars with Britain. Obama has, at least according to Nigel, not been “sensible when it comes to trading relationships” with London. Call me crazy, but I think shooting at and/or rallying other people to shoot at actual British people is more anti-British than whatever commercial injustices Nigel Farage believes have been perpetrated on the UK by Barack Obama.
